Artist's Description
According to Chinese legend, there was a place called Dragon's Gate at the top of a large waterfall on the Yellow River. Carp would swim up the river, against the current to reach the base of the waterfall. Although many would try, only a few were brave and able enough to attempt the final leap up the waterfall. It was said that if a carp was able to complete the journey through Dragon's Gate at the top of the falls, then it would be transformed into a powerful dragon. In Chinese culture, the dragon is a symbol of great power. The story symbolizes that anybody who is able to persevere through great trials can accomplish their highest goals to become great. - This is my tribute to this wonderful legend. I am really enjoying painting these beautiful fish and incorporating them into my Splash of Colour series
About Marco Aguilar
Marco Antonio Aguilar Marco grew up in the small Caribbean nation of Belize. He cannot remember a time when he was not involved in something creative. Marco studied art at St. John’s College, and it was there that he fell in love with the acrylic medium. In Belize, he painted numerous tropical scenes and wildlife paintings, including a mural in the library at St. John’s. After graduation, Marco moved to California to try his hand at acting and quickly became a fixture in Antelope Valley theatre and has performed in many local productions there and in the Los Angeles area.
